2023 Pricing Update

Aug. 25, 2023

After nearly a decade, Boston Lindy Hop is adjusting our pricing for classes.

As you are aware, increased inflation continues to impact many aspects of daily life. That has included our studio, where our costs have risen steadily in recent years — everything from the dollars we spend maintaining our website to the fees associated with our online registration system; the amount we pay ASCAP for music rights to the prices for materials and equipment for classes.

This change will also ensure that we can continue to fairly compensate the instructors, staff, and volunteers whose work and efforts make the studio possible.

As always, if cost presents a barrier for you, please let us know. We have numerous ways to ensure our classes, dances, and events remain affordable and accessible for all.

Beginning in September 2023, our new rates are as follows:

Hours of Class Standard Price Student Price
2 $35 $30
4 $60 $50
6 $80 $65
8 $100 $75
12 $120 $90

About Boston Lindy Hop

Boston Lindy Hop promotes swing dancing in Boston by teaching swing dance classes for all levels. You can learn authentic, vintage swing dance forms such as: Lindy Hop, Charleston, Vernacular Jazz, and more!

Our six-week long beginner series classes start almost every month—see the schedule for the latest classes that are available to you.

What is Lindy Hop?

Lindy Hop is the original Swing Dance, developed by the Black community to jazz music in Harlem, New York during the Harlem Renaissance in the 1920s and 1930s.  There are numerous other swing dances out there, but virtually all of them evolved out of the patterns and rhythms of the Lindy Hop.  The dance still has a large and active following throughout the world today!

You can learn more about the history of the dance from this Yehoodi film.
