Reminder - No Monday Night Classes Tonight!

Aug. 22, 2016, 11:21 a.m.

We don't want you to show up to an empty room that smells like wood stain!

As a reminder there will be no Monday classes or Monday Night Practice social dance tonight because the floor is being refinished. This will be great for all of our knees in the long run, and we look forward to seeing you all next Monday on First Church's beautiful newly-refinished floor. Have a great week!

New Curriculum

Aug. 16, 2016, 10:10 a.m.

Starting in September, Boston Lindy Hop will be rolling out a new curriculum! We’re really excited about it - we’ve streamlined some aspects of our old curriculum, added some new material, and kept what we think are the best parts of the classes we’ve been teaching for the past year. Overall, the new curriculum will keep you consistently challenged as you learn and help you on your way to improving as a dancer regardless of your current level.

An infographic summary of our new curriculum can be found here, and more information on each class can be found in the class descriptions, but you can also check out a brief summary of some of the bigger changes in our curriculum below.

  • Lindy 1 will no longer be split into two classes, but will be taught as a single six-week series

  • We'll be regularly offering several Mini Series classes, including things like Charleston 1 and The Shim Sham, in addition to other classes that may cover more specialized topics

  • Lindy 2 will be split into three four-week classes: Momentum, Connection, and Musicality.

  • We'll be adding a Charleston 2 curriculum consisting of two four-week classes: Partnered Charleston and Solo Jazz

  • Fundamentals and Lindy 3 will continue to look largely the same -  topics for these classes will still change every month so you can keep coming back to learn new things

Since we will now be offering classes of several different lengths, we have adopted a new pricing system that prices your registration based on the number of hours of class that you sign up for, with discounts for taking more classes. The pre-registration prices for our four-week series remain unchanged, and we still offer an all-in pass for students who want to get the most out of their dance education each month.  See our pricing page more details.

If you have any questions about the new curriculum in terms of layout, material, or which one of our new classes is going to be the best fit for you, please ask! We’ll be happy to talk you through it - just email us at info@bostonlindyhop.com.

We’ll see you in September (or sooner)!

Announcement: Adding Mike Herring as a Rostered Instructor

Aug. 6, 2016, 5:57 p.m.

Boston Lindy Hop is excited to announce that we're adding a new teacher to our list of rostered instructors - welcome to Mike Herring! Many of you already know Mike, since he's been teaching regularly with us as a guest instructor for the last four months. Mike moved to Boston from Charlottesville, and brings with him years of teaching and performance experience in swing dance and tap. The dance scene is lucky to have him in Boston, and BLH is incredibly lucky to have him teaching with our organization. For more information, check out his bio here, or find him teaching Tuesday classes (Lindy 1a and 2b) this month!
