Boston Lindy Hop - Updates to Pricing Structure

Dec. 15, 2015, 4:38 p.m.

Hello everyone! Moving into the new year, we'll be making some alterations to the pricing structure of our classes. We're aiming, as always, to provide high-quality instruction at reasonable prices! The new pricing structure can be found in our FAQ page here

One thing you'll notice is that the cost of pre-registering for two class series has decreased by $10. Another change we've made is to create two new pass types: a "Three Series" pass, and an "All In Pass" for folks who want to take as many BLH classes as they can fit into their schedule! Boston Lindy Hop will be teaching a larger number of classes and our new pricing structure now reflects that.

If you have any questions about recent changes, please consult the F.A.Q. below or reach out to us at info@bostonlindyhop.com

F.A.Q.

  1. What does the "All In Pass" include?
The "All In Pass" includes all regular series and drop in classes offered by Boston Lindy Hop. There may be additional pricing adjustments for guest instructors and specialty classes that are not our usual fare, but that information will be posted on a case-by-case basis.

  2. Can I still retake the Lindy I classes for free?
We previously had a policy where students taking Lindy 2 classes could retake Lindy 1 classes for free. However, this was very logistically challenging, and we have decided to retire that policy until it can be better implemented. However, we have lowered the price of registration for taking two series classes, and we still encourage students to repeat classes that they feel will be beneficial to them!

  3. Classes are difficult to afford, are there volunteer opportunities?
We believe in making Lindy Hop accessible to everyone! Reach out to info@bostonlindyhop.com about volunteer opportunities if pricing is a barrier.

Exciting News! Boston Lindy Hop and New School Swing are joining forces!

Nov. 10, 2015, 10:13 p.m.

Dear students and friends,

It’s been a time of transition here in the Boston Lindy Hop scene. We’ve weathered the loss of the Whistle Stop and celebrated new endeavors, like Elm Street Jump. We’ve seen long-time dancers move on to new cities and welcomed new folks who've helped sustain the dance scene as the vibrant, dynamic place it continues to be today.

It is in the spirit of transition, then, that we announce that swing dance instruction in Boston is entering a new chapter.  Effective in December, New School Swing and Boston Lindy Hop will be joining forces. The new, combined organization, which will be called Boston Lindy Hop, will be led by a board consisting of Hannah Catzen, Edgar B Herwick III, Cari Meisel, Andrew Selzer, and Lee Tucker.

The new Boston Lindy Hop will build on the existing strengths of both organizations, including NSS’s strong beginner curriculum and Boston Lindy Hop’s advanced course offerings (and socializing afterwards!). We’re excited to be working together as a unified force. Our aims moving forward are to continue to nurture and sustain Boston’s dance scene as a great place to learn and grow, and to keep building enthusiasm for Lindy Hop (and the music that propels it) both on and off the dance floor.

For the immediate future, the course offerings will continue largely as they have: NSS’s regular level 1 and 2 classes remain in place, as do Boston Lindy Hop’s Fundamentals and Beyond Fundamentals classes. Monday night classes will continue to be held in Harvard Square, all other classes will continue to be held at the Jeanette Neill Dance Studio in downtown Boston. Registration will soon be up for our December classes on both studios’ websites, so keep your eyes peeled!

We’re excited for this new beginning and can’t imagine a better place to be – or a better bunch of dancers to have along for the ride. We hope you’ll join us.

If you have any thoughts, questions, or just want to say hi, let us know. We’ll be around.

Vive le Lindy Hop!

New Tuesday Night Class Venue!

Oct. 26, 2015, 6:32 p.m.

We are excited to be letting you know that starting with our November classes, New School Swing will now be using a new Tuesday night venue in the heart of downtown Boston!

Jeannette Neill Dance Studio, near North Station in downtown Boston, will now be the host for our Tuesday night classes.  The studio has been hosting dance classes for over 35 years, and has also hosted many Lindy Hop classes in the past.  We know that you will love the space and the location.

Our regular Tuesday classes will now be held at 7pm and at 8pm.  Be advised that this is a slightly earlier time than our previous Tuesday classes at Dance Union.

We will no longer be hosting regular monthly classes at Dance Union for the time being.  However, we may still use the Dance Union space for special events, and of course we will let you know about those.

As always, we welcome your feedback.  Drop us a line on the Feedback page and let us know your thoughts!
